Pagan Pride Day • September 20, 2010

Many thanks to the presenters at Pagan Pride 2009!
Check back in the summer for the 2010 lineup ...
Introduction to the Wise Woman Tradition, Susun Weed
If optimum nourishment, enduring energy, freedom from pain and chronic problems, and a healthy long life is your goal, this fascinating and informative workshop is for you.  You'll learn about the three traditions of healing -- Scientific, Heroic, and Wise Woman -- and how to use them to your best advantage.  You'll be introduced to the oldest form of health care on the planet, a dramatically different way to approach health and healing, the Wise Woman Way.

Wild Woman Weed Walk, Susun Weed
Calling all wild women and wild men!  Let's wander a while in the garden of Eden and see what tastes good.  We'll sing some songs, share a shamanic trance, breathe with the plants, and connect with the devas and fairies.

Towards a Modern Druidry: An Introduction to Ár nDraíocht Féin, Ceisiwr Serith
The goal of Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF) is the creation of a druidism for today - one that melds the best scholarship with a commitment to making the Old Ways relevant.  In this workshop, we will present information on how that is being done, where ADF comes from, and how you join in the work.  We will end with a short Two Powers guided meditation.

Ze Old Vays Are Ze Good Vays, Christopher LaFond
Since the Enlightenment, when the Western astrological tradition was broken, astrologers have struggled to understand and use a system that was no longer understood, and didn't seem to work very well. In astrology's recent comeback, the focus has been mostly on psychological interpretation, but it was prediction that was the focus of traditional astrology for nearly two millennia. Today, there are a handful of astrologers who are recovering these ancient traditions as they were once practiced, and a renewed focus on predicting. This workshop will present a brief history of Western astrology with special attention paid to the differences between classical/medieval vs. modern tradition.  Christopher will also (re)connect the Western Astrological Tradition to the Eastern (Hindu) Astrological Tradition. No prior astrological knowledge is necessary.

Manifesting Through Music, Jenna & Doug Greene
Worrying is harmful on every level: emotional, physical, mental and spiritual.  It has absolutely no benefits yet so many of us worry every day.  In this unique workshop, sound, rhythm and empowering words are woven together to manifest positive change.  You will learn how to shift your perception to attract peace, love and abundance into your life.  These relaxation techniques, developed by singer-songwriter Jenna Greene, are based on ancient healing practices.  Sacred chant attunes us to the rhythms of nature, our ancestors and our spirits.  Be transformed by the power of your own voice.  Turn worry into wonder!  While Jenna facilitates the vocal aspects of sound healing, her husband Doug teaches the ancient practices of Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls and gongs ... traditionally used in Buddhist practice as a support for meditation, trance induction and prayer.  Learn how to use these powerful tools for meditation, relaxation, healthcare, personal well-being and to connect to the Divine within.  This is an interactive workshop, so come make some noise and have some fun!

Living the Magickal Life, Kirk White
This is a talk on what magick is, how it works, and how to bring it into our everyday lives, create harmony and balance, and manifest the lives we dream of.

Rootworkers, Conjurers and Two-Headed Doctors, Kirk White
In the mountains of Appalachia, the folk healing and magic practices of Irish Immigrants, native peoples and escaped African slaves came together and combined into a unique system called hoodoo.  This is a brief talk and show-and-tell about what they do and how they do it.

Ocean Wisdom: Seashells & Chakras, Michelle Hanson
Seashells are crystals from the animal kingdom.  They contain powerful healing energy for our mind, body and spirit within their matrix.  In this workshop, Michelle will share the highlights of a 4-year journey of energy discovery guided by her seashell partners.  Along the way, we will discuss revelations regarding the personal chakras and explore insights regarding the transpersonal chakras.  This wisdom from the seashell kingdom will change your view of the world.

Traditional Mabon Ritual, Teri Kalgren
Participate in a traditional Mabon ritual to celebrate this season of plenty.

Trance Dance, Moira Ashleigh
Trance dancing is used in many religious practices as a time-tested way to reach an altered state through repetitive movement.  In this ritual/workshop we will use simple movement and breath patterns to let go of the everyday constant mind chatter and allow our self to open to the Mystery, to let go of the mundane and let our spirits soar.

Celtic Hazelnut Divination, Charles Cochrane (aka The Celtic Cricket)
This form of divination uses a set of hazelnuts inscribed with sacred symbols.  In this workshop, the Celtic Cricket will guide you through creating your own set of Celtic Hazelnuts to take home and enjoy.  He will relay the story of each symbol as you get a chance to inscribe your own.  Once your set is complete, you'll be able to enjoy this tool right away by answering questions for yourself and other workshop participants.

Belly Dance with the Tarot, The Goddess Dancing
We'll combine the energies of the Empress, the Hanged Man and the Fool with our Sacred Shapes of Belly Dance.  Join us and learn to shimmy your obstacles away, circle into the power of creation, and dance joyfully like the Fool.  Learn the basics of belly dance and add a new connection with your body to your personal ritual life.

Vampires: My Experiences in the Vampire Community, Vlad
Vlad will share his experiences as an Elder in the Vampire community and address some questions people are afraid to ask.  How has the Sanguinarium (one of the first Vampire communities) changed?  What is meant by the Black Veil?  Aren't they just into dark, evil stuff?  How has the media changed peoples' perception of Vampires?  And yes, this will all take place by daylight!

Honouring Our Ancestors, Tchipakkan
Most cultures, convinced by ghosts and near death experiences, have some kind of rites honoring those who came before us and who still make their presence known.  As we develop ways to do this in Modern America, we can first look at ways others honor their ancestors, and find out what we can adapt to our lives.

Drum Circle & Workshop, Bercilak

Real Brownies, Tchipakkan
While the modern world spends a great deal of energy trying to convince kids that there are no invisible folk out there, we can teach them to work with the house wights (not quite as convenient as the House Elves at Hogwarts), brownies, hobs, and other invisible folk who seem most at home while sharing our space with us.  Very different from the nature spirits, they only want us to acknowledge them and they can be very "Good Neighbors" indeed!  This is especially aimed at kids and homeowners, and will take place in the children's area.

Pagan Parenting, MoonPool Coven
While parenting itself can be a challenging endeavor, bringing up children in today's society of non-responsibility and immediate gratification can be almost overwhelming.  This workshop will help you clarify your expectations, as well as show you how to pass your beliefs and values to your children in ways that they will enjoy and be grateful for.  This workshop will take place in the children's area.

Please note: Workshop schedule is subject to change. Any changes will be announced and posted the day of the event.
